The Swiss government has signed a contract with the American biopharmaceutical company Moderna to purchase 4.5 million doses of the future coronavirus vaccine.

Unconfirmed figures show that the transaction was worth 170 million Swiss francs. This represents more than half of the Swiss Government approved budget for the purchase of vaccines (300 million Swiss francs).

At the same time, the Confederation is negotiating with the British-Swedish group Astra-Zeneca on the purchase of the COVID-19 vaccine, which was developed at the University of Oxford and is currently in phase 3 of clinical trials.
